Tiokasin Ghosthorse welcomes three guests. His first guest is Shawna Bluestar Newcomb (Shawnee, Lenape and Azteca). Shawna is a spiritual guide and mentor for women, supporting them to share their unique gifts and voices. She is working with her father Steven T. Newcomb to challenge The Doctrine of Discovery, and dedicated to bring about healing for humanity, Mother Earth, and future generations by sharing The Reverence Code based on ancient and Indigenous wisdom. Shawna will talk with us about an upcoming event, The Global Indigenous Wisdom Summit, which will showcasing many Indigenous leaders, activists, and artists from around the world. Tiokasin’s second guest is longtime Shinnecock musician and activist Becky Hill-Genia. Becky cut her activist teeth during the American Indian Movement in the mid-1970s. She began WAVE — Women Against Violence Everyday — in 2013. Becky is the Co-Chair, with her brother, of the Shinnecock Archaeological Advisory Committee. She has been been petitioning Southampton (New York) Town Hall for decades to preserve sacred Shinnecock land, and continues to protest grave desecration on the East End of Long Island, New York. The third guest of the hour is Keala Kelly (Native Hawaiian). Keala is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and journalist. Her documentary film, "Noho Hewa: The Wrongful Occupation of Hawaii," has been screened and broadcasted internationally and is widely taught in university courses that focus on colonization, Indigenous cultures and the Pacific.
