REPEAT SHOW. Tiokasin talks with David Wengrow, a professor of comparative archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology, University College London. He is a visiting professor at New York University. He is the author of three books, including, "What Makes Civilization?" David has conducted archaeological fieldwork in various parts of Africa and the Middle East. David Wengrow and the late David Graeber (d. 9/2/2020) are the co-authors of "The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity" (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2021). "This is not a book. This is an intellectual feast. There is not a single chapter that does not (playfully) disrupt well-seated intellectual beliefs. It is deep, effortlessly iconoclastic, factually rigorous, and pleasurable to read." - Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Author, "The Black Swan." David Graeber was a professor of anthropology at the London School of Economics. He was the author of "Debt: The First 5,000 Years" and "Bullshit Jobs: A Theory," and was a contributor to Harper's Magazine, The Guardian and The Baffler. An iconic thinker and renowned activist, his early efforts in Zuccotti Park made Occupy Wall Street an era-defining movement.
