With Guests María Blanco and Aymar Ccopacatty

Tiokasin spends the full hour discussing Indigenous resistance and cultural survival in Peru with María Blanco and Aymar Ccopacatty. Aymar, who has been a frequent guest this year, is an intercultural artist and museum textile conservator. He is a lifelong student of his Indigenous Aymara heritage, in honor of his Native community of Qullana Socca, Puno, Perú. María Blanco, an anti-colonial feminist, is a teacher and educator of social sciences. She has done school and workshops in Andean communities to support the organization in defense of the Indigenous territories. She also is part of the monthly newspaper/magazine "Lucha Indígena" ("Indigenous Struggle") — its purpose is to be a medium in the service of Indigenous peoples in the struggles for their territories and rights. The publication includes interviews with Indigenous leaders, activists, teachers and communicators, and also shares news about what is happening with Indigenous peoples 'struggles in different parts of America (mainly Latin America), Europe, Kurdistan and Palestine. María is the daughter of Hugo Blanco Galdós, “a living legend, one of a constellation of elders who have left this time of calendars and progress and exploitation to live the life of plenitude and freedom in struggle.” — Manuel Rozental.
